Well another kuering passed or should I say we survived!
I wanted to thank all our participants/exhibitors this year, for helping to keep our kuering friendly, by not getting upset or impatient with suddenly requested changes. Big, big thanks to all the volunteers, who were quick and efficient to keep on top of all aspects of helping the management. Everyone did there part. And it showed, for the 5th year in a row CCFC was commended by the judges and FHANA, on top organization, friendly atmosphere, and our treatment and care of them, and a smoothly run kuering.
Well another kuering passed or should I say we survived! I wanted to thank all our participants/exhibitors this year, for helping to keep our kuering friendly, by not getting upset or impatient with suddenly requested changes.
You were all quick and efficient to keep on top of all aspects of helping the management. Everyone did their part. And it showed!, for the 5th year in a row CCFC was commended by the judges and FHANA, on top organization, friendly atmosphere, and our treatment and care of them, and on a smoothly run kuering.
I Also want to say thank you to or program advertisers, and recognize some of our sponsors that donated very nice prizes: Grand Meadows, Horses & Things, Jakes Place, Shaw's Saddlery, Martins Ranch Supply, and Santa Rosa Saddlery
2006 Observations, As in each year there are always different judges. The judges from the Netherlands each have conformational faults that they stress and convey to the owners to be aware of. In the passed it has been weak hind ends, too short legs, weak backs, overley slanted croups and this year abnormal hoofs. These are all important aspects of a horses conformational build up. Several horses were refused the studbook this year due to hoofs being un-equal in size and shape. Owners must keep in mind that the judges are judging on what is best for the breed as a whole, and realize and consider that they made some very valid observations. I know many owner left disappointed this year.
I know we had some new owners, who were attending their first Kuering, So, I wanted to clarify a little the studbook/ster situation. 3+ year old mares or geldings not yet entered in the Studbook (stamboek), i.e they are still only in the foal registry (voulenboek). Should be tried for Studbook/ster, for breeding / bloodline purposes, registry and status change, and to give credit to the Dam. When a horse is presented for studbook and ster, they are ACCEPTED into the studbook as: "breeding quality animals", Approx. 50% are accepted WITHOUT premiums. So remember, you are aiming to get you horse accepted into the studbook, for a new registration status and new papers. It is important to keep foremost in your mind that only 5-10% of those horses presented will actually receive the prestigious Ster status. Mares not accepted into the studbook are not accepted for a reason, some reasons being: too small in stature, too high in inbreeding, illegal white, conformational defects, etc. The point is that if your horse is simply accepted into the studbook with no premium, is not, nor should be a huge disappointment. If the judges pointed out weaknesses in your mare or gelding that can be improved upon by you, such as hoof growth, pushing power, weak hind end, or underdevelopment. You can consider working on improving those faults though the year and try your mare or geldings for Ster again; there really is not limit on how many times you can repeat for Ster, So, look at your horse objectively and see what you can improve or not improve. Remember the judges are usually, different from year to year; they each see perhaps different or the same faults, but many have varying comments and/or opinions. Take each judging/kuering as a learning experience. The year you get your Ster, Mare, Gelding or Stallion will be forever glorious because you now know just how elusive those awards can be. My congratulations to all of you! thank you for attending , we hope to see you next year.
Sincerely, Melissa Fischbach CCFC President
