CCFC member Gina Sierra, entered a photo of her daughter Alexandra and her 11 year old Friesian, Gabriel in the San Francisco Giants Orangest Fan Contest. The photo was one of 9 winners. A call was made to Alexandra on behalf of the Giants at SBC park, to request her presence “in costume” on horseback for a victory lap around the field during the 7th inning stretch of Friday night’s game, July 8, 2005. Alexandra was accompanied by her trainer, Rachel Hentz on Uiltje (Gabriel’s half brother). Together they trotted and cantered before a crowd of some 42,000 Giant’s fans. Both horses were on their best behavior and thoroughly enjoyed being in the spotlight while the fans twirled their orange rally rags and sang, “Take me out to the ball game”. And that’s not the end of the story. The fans are asked to place their vote on line during the week of Sept. 12-17 for the Giants Ultimate Fan of the 9 photos that were selected. All 9 winners will return to SBC Park on Sept. 30th and the Ultimate Fan will be announced during the that game
